Our writing is focused on three areas

1. Escaping Normal

We realized something very important. It is this: We become what we think about. What does this mean? For us, that one sentence means everything.

It means thinking about our lives proactively, not just sitting back and letting life life drag us here and there. We decide where and who we want to be and work hard to get there.

It means seeing the end from the beginning and creating a life that adds value to those around us. It means pursuing our God-given talents and interests. It means setting goals, big goals and working hard every day to achieve them.

It means pursuing wisdom with all we have. We read voraciously and are always updating our resource page with books we recommend.

It means pursuing success in these 7 areas: social, spiritual, family, financial, career, personal development, and physical.

Escape normal is our way of saying you can do and be what you have always dreamed of doing or being. But, it often takes stepping outside of normal to do so.

2. Regaining Your Fizz

There are lots of people just going through the motions of life. Their work is meaningless and life is, just blah! We lived this way for the first 7 years of our marriage. One day, we decided we had enough!

Wham!

We got a glimpse of what our lives could look if we had the willingness to learn and the determination the pursue life instead of letting it just float by.

We love to help others do the same!

3. Recreating the Way You Make a Living

In January of 2012 Michael quit his job for the adventure of starting our own business. Over the next eight months, we grew that business to the point where it replaced and surpassed his former income.

Jumping into entrepreneurship has been a great adventure! We love the freedom and possibilities.

Recreating the way you make a living means pursuing work which is fun, fulfilling, and provides money for you to thrive, not just get by! For us, it is entrepreneurial work.

We started the site for four reasons

1. We wanted to change our lives

Rise365 was created as an avenue to assist us in bringing about the change we wanted.

We knew we had to do something radical to kick us out of the rut we were in. So, we decided to blog every day for 1 full year. Thus the name rise365. We began on November 8, 2011 with this post.

A year has now come and gone and our lives are drastically different!

Rise365 has become a beloved community for us. A place to find encouragement while pursuing a vibrant life.

2. We needed accountability

Anyone who sets off on a noble quest needs accountability. We knew if we put our goals out there, we would be more motivated to follow through.

Guess what? It worked! We have found what we were looking for and more!

3. We needed teach it to learn it

Sometimes the best way to learn something is to teach it while you are going through it.

Teaching what we were presently going through brought blessings we never anticipated. Through this process we found we were constantly gaining clarity on our life goals and ambitions along the way.

We were also gaining friendships. And, new opportunities seemed to constantly spring out of nowhere!

It has been awesome!

4. We wanted to serve other people

We sometimes felt alone in our quest to do something different. We decided it was time to stop pitying ourselves and reach out to others who may be having similar struggles. It was the best decision ever!

We now love connecting with other people who are looking to step out and pursue life! To do something different.

We thrive on this stuff. It encourages us beyond words! We now find great joy in joining others and encouraging them on their own journey.

What to expect

We both take turns posting every Monday and Thursday and enjoy the difference in perspective it brings. We write on at least one of the three topics mentioned above.
