Do you ever do the right thing and know you are doing the right thing, but it is so much harder than the wrong thing that you’ve been doing for years?

Sometimes it seems like making the right decision is like stepping out over the edge of a cliff and the path is there, it’s right there, you just can’t see it. It is just hard to believe it really is there.
It would be helpful to be a carriage horse right now. They wear blinders to keep them going the right direction. A piece of leather sits right beside each eye so all they can do is look straight ahead. All they can do is step straight ahead.
They can’t see to the right or to the left. There isn’t the opportunity to veer off the path by distraction or fear. Nope, just one foot in front of the other, forging a path straight ahead.
You simply need to move forward, straight ahead, knowing you are making a good decision but not seeing the fruit of it. Not right now.
Sometimes you don’t see the fruit of a good decision until later. Not always in the moment. It’s not always clear. The fog, it likes to linger and creep around your ankles. But I can feel what a good decision feels like. It’s thunder, loud and rumbling, deep in my soul.
I can feel a good decision; I can study a good decision; I can consult others on a good decision.
And then, I just have to step into the fog.
Question: Have you ever made a good decision that was really hard in the moment?
