Staying Over With Friends We Met On Facebook – IDC #13

The I Don’t Care Project = 1 “Uncomfortable Situation” Every Week

We were truly blessed to spend the weekend with some new friends of ours. Steve and Jody Berkey, along with their son Elijah, warmly opened up their home for us and treated us as family.

In the past, Claudia and I would have never even considered driving 4 hours to stay with people we met on Facebook. However, we knew there was something special about Steve and Jody and jumped on their suggestion of a get together.

We’ve realized that when we are proactive in learning, trying new things, and meeting new people, great things often come about.

The Berkeys act on the wisdom of Mother Teresa who said, “Let no one ever come to you without leaving better and happier.”

Thank you Steve, Jody, and Elijah!

Sweet! This is awesome that you actually went forward and did it – especially so quickly! I love meeting new friends on social media.

P.S. I also like the two blocks you added at the bottom of the page – Michael’s Tweets and Claudia’s Tweets. The blue/purple color is eye catching and it’s an easy way to see where else you hang out. :)

      We really did Alana!
AND IT WAS AWESOME!!! We felt so loved, welcomed and encouraged. Plus it was just a huge bonus to get in the car and drive and talk :)

      Cheers to new friends!

      Alana,
Yeah, we came away refreshed and blessed by deeper friendships (not too mention, Steve totally hooked me up with some sweet new website stuff for my business)!

I was toying with the footer last week. Not sure if I’m settled on it yet… I may tweak it a bit. Thanks for the feedback though!

Sweet! I want to try doing something like this. I’m signed up with couch surfing but haven’t actually done it yet. Now I have extra enthusiasm to go for it!

    • http://rise365.com Claudia Good

      Will,
I had to google couch surfing :) o boy… love it!!!

Hey send us pictures when you go!

      • http://wheretigerswill.wordpress.com Will Laohoo

Ah yes, pictures. I’m often bad at remembering to take pictures, but I’ll shoot for it!

        • http://rise365.com Claudia Good

Please do! It would be fun to see your adventures :)

    • http://rise365.com Michael Good

Will, you should do it! I know you’d come away richer for it. Where are you going to be traveling to?

      • http://wheretigerswill.wordpress.com Will Laohoo

I want to go to Catalyst Dallas, so maybe there. I do have relatives who live in that area, but they’re about 45 minutes away. It’d be especially awesome to stay with someone who’s also going to Catalyst!

        • http://rise365.com Michael Good

Sweet! I’ve known about Catalyst for a while but haven’t read or listened to hardly any of their stuff. Is it their podcasts that you like?

          • http://wheretigerswill.wordpress.com Will Laohoo

Sorry, the e-mail notification got lost in the wrong e-mail account!

Yeah, I do enjoy their podcasts, and I’d like to be there to listen to wisdom firsthand and have the chance to meet some of the leaders that are featured!

Awesome! Glad you had success in this uncomfortable situation! Sounds like you made two new awesome friends.

    • http://rise365.com Claudia Good

      Joe,
      We did!!!

Wow, so refreshing to get out of our own circles and expand our horizons! :)

    Great picture!

Steve and Jody are great people (I’ve met them). I know you two are great people too (looking forward to meeting you two someday as well).

    • http://rise365.com Michael Good

Steve and Jody are great, Kent. And yes, looking forward to meeting you too! I know it’ll happen sooner or later.

We were made for relationship – with God and others. Without them, life is pitiful. With them, life is powerful! Just imagine how many relationships you’ll have 10 years from now! What a rich life.

    • http://rise365.com Michael Good

Hey, thanks for that, Michael. We’re truly grateful for all the people we’ve gotten to know over the last little while.

That’s a really good point about us being made for relationships. I’m often amazed to what extend we are emotional beings. I think it’s pretty incredible!

    • http://rise365.com Claudia Good

      Thanks for this Michael!

  • http://www.threedimensionalvitality.com/ Ann J Musico

That’s beautiful! Not only that they were gracious enough to invite you but that you were courageous enough to go! We all need to live by Mother Teresa’s wisdom – this would be a much nicer place to be!

    • http://rise365.com Michael Good

      Ann,
And we were glad we did! I agree, more people living by Mother Teresa’s wisdom would be a good thing.

  • robclinton

Wow, how cool is that!? Nice picture by the way! I’m sure you’ve all planted seeds for great things to come.

    • http://rise365.com Michael Good

      Rob,
We really enjoyed hanging out with them and Steve was able to help us a ton with some website and video stuff! They have a pretty sweet video/photo studio in their basement. That’s where the photo was shot.

Michael, great stuff brother. I read your post to my wife and we are considering taking on the project. Glad you met some friends for life. Blessings, @missioncoach

    • http://rise365.com Michael Good

      Rob,
Glad you enjoyed it. We’d like to start featuring other’s IDCs. So, I’d love it if you did something and then shared it in an IDC post! Kind of like a guest post. What do you think?

      • http://www.totalfusionministries.org Rob Coburn

Michael I love the idea. Sounds like a ton of people could get involved with this and spark some new realities. After Tue my wife and I will make our list to begin working on. Thanks, @missioncoach

        • http://rise365.com Michael Good

OK Rob, sounds good. I look forward to it!

  • http://wheretigerswill.wordpress.com Will Laohoo

What a quote! I wish I could identify with it more, though…

    • http://rise365.com/ Michael Good

But that’s what we’re working towards, Will. :)
